"Um dia, um pai de família rica, grande empresário, levou seu filho para
viajar até um lugarejo com o firme propósito de mostrar o quanto as pessoas podem ser pobres.
O objetivo era convencer o filho da necessidade de valorizar os bens materiais
que possuía, o status, o prestígio social; o pai queria desde cedo passar esses valores para seu herdeiro.
Eles ficaram um dia e uma noite numa pequena casa de taipa, de um morador da fazenda de seu primo...
Quando retornavam da viagem, o pai perguntou ao filho:
- E aí, filhão, como foi a viagem para você ?
- Muito boa, papai.
- Você viu a diferença entre viver com riqueza e viver na pobreza ?
- Sim pai! Retrucou o filho, pensativamente.
- E o que você aprendeu, com tudo o que viu naquele lugar tão paupérrimo ?
O menino respondeu:
- É pai, eu vi que nós temos só um cachorro em casa, e eles têm quatro.
Nós temos uma piscina que alcança o meio do jardim, eles têm um riacho que não tem fim.
Nós temos uma varanda coberta e iluminada com lâmpadas fluorescentes
e eles têm as estrelas e a lua no céu.
Nosso quintal vai até o portão de entrada e eles têm uma floresta inteirinha.
Nós temos alguns canários em uma gaiola eles têm todas as aves
que a natureza pode oferecer-lhes, soltas!
O filho suspirou e continuou:
- E além do mais papai, observei que eles oram antes de qualquer refeição,
enquanto que nós em casa, sentamos à mesa falando de negócios, dólar,
eventos sociais, daí comemos, empurramos o prato e pronto!
No quarto onde fui dormir com o Tonho, passei vergonha, pois não sabia sequer orar, enquanto que ele se ajoelhou e agradeceu a Deus por tudo, inclusive
a nossa visita na casa deles. Lá em casa, vamos para o quarto,
deitamos, assistimos televisão e dormimos.
Outra coisa, papai, dormi na rede do Tonho, enquanto que ele dormiu no chão,
pois não havia uma rede para cada um de nós.
Na nossa casa colocamos a Maristela, nossa empregada, para dormir naquele quarto onde guardamos entulhos, sem nenhum conforto, apesar de termos camas macias e cheirosas sobrando.
Conforme o garoto falava, seu pai ficava estupefado, sem graça e envergonhado.
O filho na sua sábia ingenuidade e no seu brilhante desabafo, levantou-se, abraçou o pai e ainda acrescentou:
- Obrigado papai, por me haver mostrado o quanto nós somos pobres
MORAL DA HISTÓRIA:
Não é o que você tem, onde está ou o que faz, que irá determinar a sua felicidade; mas o que você pensa sobre isto! Tudo o que você tem, depende da maneira como você olha, da maneira como você valoriza. Se você tem amor e sobrevive nesta vida com dignidade, tem atitudes positivas e partilha com benevolência suas coisas, então... Você tem tudo!"
Ter e Ser
Um pai, em uma situação muito confortável de vida, resolveu dar uma lição a seu filho ensinando o que é ser pobre. Ficaria hospedado por alguns dias na casa de uma família de camponeses. O menino passou três dias e três noites vivendo no campo.
No carro, voltando para a cidade, o pai lhe perguntou: “Como foi sua experiência?” “Boa.” respondeu o filho, com o olhar perdido à distância.
“E o que você aprendeu?”, insistiu o pai.
O filho respondeu:
“Que nós temos um cachorro e eles têm quatro. Que nós temos uma piscina com água tratada, que chega até metade do nosso quintal. Eles têm um rio sem fim, de água cristalina, onde têm peixinhos e outras belezas. Que importamos lustres do Oriente para iluminar nosso jardim , enquanto eles têm as estrelas e a lua para iluminá-los. Nosso quintal chega até o muro.
O deles chega até o horizonte. Compramos nossa comida e esquentamos em microondas, eles cozinham em fogão à lenha. Ouvimos CD’s, Mp3, eles ouvem a sinfonia de pássaros, sapos, grilos, tudo isso às vezes acompanhado pelo sonoro canto de um vizinho trabalhando sua terra. Para nos protegermos vivemos rodeados por um muro, com alarmes… Eles vivem com suas portas abertas, protegidos pela amizade de seus vizinhos. Vivemos conectados ao celular, ao computador, sempre plugados, neuroticamente atualizados. Eles estão “conectados” à vida, ao céu, ao sol, à água, ao campo, animais, às suas sombras, à sua família.”
O pai ficou impressionado com a profundidade de seu filho e então o filho terminou: “Obrigado, pai, por ter me ensinado o quanto somos pobres! “
Nós temos olhos para enxergar, ouvidos para escutar, mas falta a humildade em nossa mente e coração para poder sentir.
Sons Inaudíveis
Um rei mandou seu filho estudar no templo de um grande Mestre, com o objetivo de prepará-lo para ser uma grande pessoa. Quando o príncipe chegou ao templo, o Mestre o mandou sozinho para uma floresta. Ele deveria voltar um ano depois, com a tarefa de descrever todos os sons da floresta. Quando o príncipe retornou ao templo, após um ano, o Mestre lhe pediu para descrever todos os sons que conseguira ouvir. Então disse o príncipe:
– Mestre, pude ouvir o canto dos pássaros, o barulho das folhas, o alvoroço dos beija-flores, a brisa batendo na grama, o zumbido das abelhas, o barulho do vento cortando os céus…
E ao terminar o seu relato, o Mestre pediu que o príncipe retornasse à floresta, para ouvir tudo o mais que fosse possível. Apesar de intrigado, o príncipe obedeceu à ordem do Mestre, pensando:
– Não entendo, eu já distingui todos os sons da floresta…
Por dias e noites ficou sozinho ouvindo, ouvindo, ouvindo… Mas não conseguiu distinguir nada de novo além daquilo que havia dito ao Mestre. Porém, certa manhã, começou a distinguir sons vagos, diferentes de tudo o que ouvira antes. E quanto mais prestava atenção, mais claros os sons se tornavam. Uma sensação de encantamento tomou conta do rapaz. Pensou:
– Esses devem ser os sons que o Mestre queria que eu ouvisse…
E sem pressa, ficou ali ouvindo e ouvindo, pacientemente. Queria Ter certeza de que estava no caminho certo. Quando retornou ao templo, o Mestre lhe perguntou o que mais conseguira ouvir.
Paciente e respeitosamente, o príncipe disse:
– Mestre, quando prestei atenção, pude ouvir o inaudível som das flores se abrindo, o som do sol nascendo e aquecendo a terra e da grama bebendo o orvalho da noite…
O Mestre sorrindo, acenou com a cabeça em sinal de aprovação, e disse:
– Ouvir o inaudível é ter a calma necessária para se tornar uma grande pessoa. Apenas quando se aprende a ouvir o coração das pessoas, seus sentimentos mudos, seus medos não confessados e suas queixas silenciosas, uma pessoa pode inspirar confiança ao seu redor, entender o que está errado e atender às reais necessidades de cada um.”
O Valor do Sofrimento
Um jovem monge do Ocidente acabara de chegar a um dos mosteiros de Achaan Chah, situados na floresta. Pediu permissão para ficar e praticar os aprendizados.
Achaan Chah lhe disse:
- Espero que não tenha medo de sofrer.
Um tanto surpreso, o jovem ocidental explicou que não tinha vindo para sofrer, mas para aprender a meditar e a viver em paz na floresta.
Achaan Chah replicou:
- Existem dois tipos de sofrimento: o sofrimento que resulta em mais sofrimento e o sofrimento que põe fim ao sofrimento.
E continuou sabiamente:
- Se você não estiver disposto a encarar o segundo tipo, certamente continuará a experimentar o primeiro.
É importante saber lidar com "sofrimento humano" para vencermos o "sofrimento da alma"... é muito rica esta mensagem e cabe a cada um de nós refletir sobre ela.

SUCCESSFUL PEOPLE WORK OUTSIDE OF THEIR COMFORT ZONE.
To get what you have never gotten, you must do what you have never done!
Succesful people are willing to get uncomfortable! Too many people let fear get in the way, so they stay inside of their comfort zone and end up living an ordinary life.
I like to consider the risk/reward ratio when I am faced with a decision. I think about the action necessary to accomplish the task, look at the time energy and effort involved. Is this in-line with my purpose, goals & dreams? Then If I say YES and take this risk:
1. What is the absolute best possible outcome?
2. What is the worst thing that may happen?
3. What is most likely going to happen if I take this opportunity?
If even the worst case scenario will give me an opportunity to grow and learn and get me closer to fulfilling my dreams in life - I will GO FOR IT!

It seems humans are not alone when it comes to dreaming of a better life for themselves: apparently, rats do it, too.
When at rest, rats and mice conduct mental rehearsals of journeys toward a desired future, such as a tasty treat, researchers at University College London (UCL) have found. The new study, which compared rats’ brain activity while the animals were in various stages of motion and rest, could help explain why some people with damage to the hippocampus – the part of the brain thought to be responsible for memory and spatial recognition – struggle to imagine the future.
It could also provide insight into what goes on in the human mind during sleep.

“During exploration, mammals rapidly form a map of the environment in their hippocampus,” Dr. Hugo Spiers, the study’s senior author, told research news site Science Daily. “During sleep or rest, the hippocampus replays journeys through this map which may help strengthen the memory.”
The researchers used electrodes to monitor the animals’ brain activity in three different situations: first, as the rats were shown food they couldn’t access, then as they rested in a separate area, and lastly, as they walked to the food. They found that brain cells involved in navigation showed similar activity when the rats were resting and when they were walking to and from the food, indicating that the brain was simulating or preparing future paths leading to a desired goal.
The process took up about 8 percent of the rats’ brain activity during sleep. While that may not sound like much, it’s still a lot of energy to give a single task during rest, Dr. Spiers told Discover magazine.
The results support the idea that sleeping improves performance on certain memory tasks, particularly those tied to a specific desire, the magazine reported.
“People are much better at doing the stuff that they’ll make more money on after they’ve slept,” Spiers said. “Something about sleep is using that desire information: that you do want to do better.”

The study stopped short of conclusively finding that rats dream these mental replays – “You can’t ask rats what they’re thinking or dreaming,” Spiers told Discover – but it does suggest that the ability to imagine future events is not unique to humans.
